Lunar New Year!!
Throughout East Asia in China, Taiwan and Vietnam, people have been celebrating the Lunar New Year. The Year of the Snake replaces the old year of the Dragon among the twelve signs.
Fireworks, Lion Dances and feasting are the order of the day as the celebrations continue for at least a week.
Indeed amongst Chinese communities everywhere from Taipei to Toronto and Singapore to San Francisco there's a festive spirit in the air. And no less so in New York where a vibrant
Chinese community both in Manhattan's "old Chinatown" to Flushing, Queens, gets in on the festivities.
Here in New York many department stores such as Bloomingdales have a Lunar New Year theme as seen here.
